My Reviews & Blog
I am SO HAPPY with the new site! Just--seriously, seriously impressed. Thumbs up to Jive! Love all the stuff you have up, love that you're not forcing any fanclubs down my throat, love the gorgeous and wonderfully READABLE layout. I'm psyched.
I am so tempted to blog here often and volubly, but I'm afraid of what would happen to all the stuff I've written once this site gets shut down yet again, as these things inevitably do.
Where it all began
It may have been Millennium that broke records, but the Backstreet Boys eponymous debut will always hold first place in my heart. While the production values may not compare to later works, this album is, frankly, the most appreciable of their work. The old tracks, inherited from the European debut, give it endearing rough edges, just as the sleekly produced new tracks give the album polish.

The Quintessential BSB Album
From the moment I Want It That Way hit the airwaves in April of 1999, this album was undeniable. Having one of the universe's perfect pop songs as a lead single really couldn't hurt, but when May 18th, 1999 finally arrived, the Backstreet Boys' sophomore effort Millennium went gold in a day, platinum in a week, and left the industry astounded. The album broke records no one had expected, and now the world was forced to take notice of a group it had been trying to dismiss.
