It's kind of a strange story but, it worked for me, like most strange things do. When I was 12 years old (that's way back in 1996) I was injured in an accident, and broke my neck. Broken necks isn't why I like BSB... I'm getting to that. At the time I was living overseas (my father was stationed in Germany) so the only channel I got that I could actually understand was MTV Europe. I watched it day in and day out while I was laid up in that bed. One particular video kept coming on tv - We've Got It Goin' On.
Now, keeping in mind that I was a fan of grunge, and rock, at the time, although I secretly loved the song, the video, and the eye candy, I would never admit it. Thus my secret romance began. I bought the album once I was out of the hospital, all those memories of BSB being all that was unforeign to me while I was stuck far away from home.
1997 I found myself in the hospital again because of complications with my original accident. This time the hospital was Dutch, but the MTV was the same, and both Everybody and As Long As You Love Me were on very heavy rotation. I couldn't deny my feelings for the band any longer at this point. The second I was out of the hospital I had that album in my hands and every single person from Berlin to Vancouver knew that I loved the Backstreet Boys -- because I told everyone.
I still continue to tell everyone to this day, to make up for that year where I kept it to myself.
