I'm a fan (and you should be too) because... I owe the Backstreet boys my life and it would mean the world to me if I could just say thank you to them for it.
When I was 13 my whole world fell apart, my parents separated, my father turned against my mum and I and I nearly lost everything, my home, parts of my family including my mum and all hope. At this point I went into very bad depression and ended up trying to do the unthinkable, during this time one of my friends who was already a fan started to show me how much BSB ment to her and how the music had got her through all the problems she had in her own life, then after a while another friend of mine who knew that I loved the Backstreets back album bought me Millenium as a late birthday present. After starting to listening to it, it started to play Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely and for the first time in as long as I could remember I felt that I wasn't alone and it gave me the hope and determination that I needed to go on and so I became a big fan, I started to sing, getting more than my 15 minutes of local fame, even giving mini concerts of BSB songs at high school that ended being broken up by the teachers most of the time because I hads too many people around me. From there I have now become a honours graduate in biology from university, am engaged to the love of my life and have a real future ahead of me now, but I still sing and am still a fan of the music as I will be until the day I die, as well as having the highest level of respect for everything they do and give up for fans like me. Travelling the world, being separted from their families and friends and still coming up with fantasic music to inspire and videos to treasure and after all the negative things they put up with, still being as down to earth when they meet a fan as when they are with their friends.
I have never been able to meet them and I am only now able to see them in concert in May, which I have wanted so much for so long but the one thing that would mean to me more than all the collectables I own would be to say thank you for everything they have done for me and so many others and wish them all the luck and happiness in the world, because good things couldn't happen to nicer or more genuine people, that is why I am a fan, to be part of what means and brings so much to the best human beings on earth.
