the song is about a one night stand, and questioning what might have come out of it, but coming to the realization that ...well, that's all it was, but it was good. And then....you move on.

but to most people, i think when we hear "fireworks" it means something exciting and wonderful happened...like an explosion of passion or something, and not something angry like a "firey" fight.

there could be many meanings to that sentence it depends how you look at it really, kikymclean you could be right or it could be that he's argued with his partner (fireworks) and they've split up (the kind of pain that never hurts) he thinks that they are meant to be but she disagrees (the one you hate to love, is made for you), see what i mean one sentence can have many meanings

overall, i think the song is about falling in love with someone unexpectedly and the pain of not knowing whether it's going to work out. sounds like a guy met a girl on a sunday, they had a "night of fireworks" and then monday came and he's still waiting to see if something more will develop.

i guess it's painful to start a new relationship without knowing how it's going to turn out, but since the time spent together is amazing and blissful the pain is tolerable, you know what i mean? it's pain...but not the kind that hurts...the kind that feels i good, i guess.
