Asked to pass it along.
I was talking to someone in the mtv message board and she brought up a good idea and asked me to post it here for her.
MTV is stubborn and won't allow Backstreet boys on TRL, but there are two ways we can change their mind.
1. Watch Helpless When she smiles music video on the mtv site whenever you are on the computer. (you don't actually have to watch it {but why wouldn't you} and you could put it on mute and do something else) that way the view count will be so hight that have to let us vote.
2. Vote for it for wildcard on VH1. If we vote enough VH1 will have to let us vote for them. And then we can make them number one and that will give MTV incentive to put it up for voting on TRL.
~oh yeah. When we are allowed to vote for the backstreet boys on MTV or VH1. We have to vote like crazy and get them to number one. That way people will get to hear their music while watching TRL or VH1's top 30 countdown and realize how amazing their songs are.

---Yeah. The heads that control MTV and TRL in U.S. have been quoted as saying that they are trying to block BSB songs because they don't want to start the "pop music era" again and want to do rap, hip-hop etc..
Which I think is REALLY stupid, because their t.v. ratings have been plummeting each year and when BsB went on TRL for Inconsolable-- the building was literally surrounded on all sides and streets by fans and they had to admit that it was the highest turn out of fans/ratings TRL has had in ~years~.^^

MTV claims they are too "old" now for TRL. This came straight from Kevin in an interview. They made an appearance on TRL a while back to "retire" from TRL b/c they were too old. WTF

well...we've been trying to spread this word to everyone for months now. but until those dummies at mtv and vh1 actually take notice and make a conscious effort to bring the Boys back in the limelight, i don't know how much of an impact we'll make.
inconsolable was on both the trl and top 20 list, but was taken off for no reason. could it be that it got too many votes and that scared the producers? my theory is that it threw off their whole system, and it doesn't fit in with their well-crafted image that they created (by promoting all those other bands instead). didn't someone in here say that they heard mtv admitted that they didn't want the whole BSB craze to start up again?
uh...sorry to ramble. did that even make sense?!
they won't show the Backstreet boys' videos on TRL because they don't have enough views online. That is largely in part to the fact that there are like a million places you can watch their videos. So if we watch it everytime at mtv instead of a million other places the views will add up and they will show the videos.

Yeah. Why in Heaven's name arent they allowed??!! I'm Singaporean, SIngapore gets cable.. but i dun have MTV.. BUT WHY?
Quick question, why wont MTV allow Bakcstreet boys on TRL? I'm Australian so I have no idea as we dont get MTV, but I think thats pretty poor on their behalf.
