In case anyone wanted to know...this is my review of "Unbreakable". I love it. Well, mostly.
There are 2 songs which I'm not quite as fond of ("Something I Already Know" and "Love Will Keep You Up At Night"). "Something I Already Know" sounds way too much like "Inconsolable", which I adore, but it's a little aggravating that they sound so similar. The boys don't showcase any new skill in singing two songs that sound eerily similar...although, perhaps it would be better if the two songs weren't smack next to each other on the album. Meanwhile, "Love Will Keep You Up At Night" is almost too much cheese. Almost impossible, I know.
I honestly think that whoever is picking the boys' next single should rethink their career. I understand that they're trying to market Backstreet as an adult contemporary group, but let's be realistic. The music that's currently being played on adult contemporary radio and pop radio are more upbeat than ballads...very few ballads are gaining a place in the radio world, and the ones that are getting some recognition are released by current stars. The guys are talented and fantastic, but to be honest, they lost their place of superstardom a bit. They really should've released, either their first or second single as an up-tempo song like "One In A Million" or "Everything But Mine". Then they would definitely be able to compete with current mainstream dominators. Speaking of "One In A Million", each of 3 songs that the fellas penned are amazing. I'm really quite upset that they did not/were not allowed to contribute more. Anyway, their up-beat songs are FANTASTIC on this album. I genuinely love every single dance-type song they have on the cd. Also, you should get the "Special Edition" because "Downpour" is a stunning song...although I'm partial to any allusion to rain.
Anyway, the album is great in my opinion. I know a few reviews have been disheartening to put it mildly, but here are a few that share my views...for the most part.
