I remember this album coming out and EVERYONE THAT I KNEW WANTED IT. On the first day of second grade for me, I wound up talking about this album with some of my friends from school.

The five great hits are As Long As You Love Me (which is on the Original Now That's What I call Music), Everybody (Backstreet's Back) [Both Versions], All I Have to Give, Quit Playin' Games With My Heart, and I'll Never Break Your Heart.

Basically I love this whole album and I always will with As Long As You Love Me, to me being my favorite song of ALL TIME.

It may have been Millennium that broke records, but the Backstreet Boys eponymous debut will always hold first place in my heart. While the production values may not compare to later works, this album is, frankly, the most appreciable of their work. The old tracks, inherited from the European debut, give it endearing rough edges, just as the sleekly produced new tracks give the album polish.

What rates this album five stars is the fact that so much growth is laid out in front of our very eyes. From the rather juvenile We've Got It Goin' On to sophisticated Set Adrift On Memory Bliss, the Boys development as musical artists is nearly exponential. And if this was merely their American debut, imagine what was yet to come!

In the end, I think, the reason this album has always returned to my stereo (and honestly, over the course of nine years, it ALWAYS has) is because of the promise it held. There is so much potential in the voices here, and a beautifully artless humanity in the still developing voice of Nick, in AJ's lisp, in the amorphous quality of their musical style, in the ripening prowess of Max Martin, that is nothing less than mesmerizing to listen to.

This album is very deeply entrenched in my heart, and I think it always will be.

The original one It's a beautiful CD... had one of my favourite songs "All I have to give" and "Quit Playin' games..."! And it was the CD that "open the door" to our boys became famous around the world!!

This album is a classic! It's what introduced the US to BSB and no one has been able to look back since! There are so many classic and catchy songs on this album that it instantly earns it place in music history!

This album is a pure classic. I love pretty much every single song on this album except for darlin and set adrift on memory bliss. I know all of them by heart.Every single Backstreet fan owns this album except for maybe the newer ones. I really reccomend listening to it if you havent already.

Ahh, my first Bsb album. Such a classic! I will always love it because of that; plus, it contains the songs that got me hooked - Quit Playing Games, As Long As You Love Me, Everybody. I love all of the singles and also those cheesy, fun songs like If You Want It To Be Good Girl.

My only complaint is that some songs from Backstreet's Back, such as Like a Child, were not included on this album.

i think in combining backstreets boys and backstreets back they lost a lot of good songs, and its a shame, altho this is still a good cd,
but songs like 10'000 promises and like a child and thats the way i like it, even' roll with it, no body but you and boys will be boys were great...

That's the way I know the album, that's the way I'll judge them. The American music industry has, what I would call, an unfair musical appreciation. Why? This album is an example. For those that know the group well, one would note that this album is simply a US version of two international albums by BSB, right?
Normally, US versions of albums are normally versions of foreign musicians... mainly from UK, but we know that this group is American, why the confusion in the first place? These boys practically knocked out boy bands from the UK and beyond with their style of pop and made a difference only for the American industry to recognise them two years later. What a bash but still a good thing for the group notwithstanding.
Give it up for the new group of the decade.

I was 14 years old, all I remember is their beautiful songs, but it was not Backstreet Boys first album in the cover of their 2nd album "Backstreet's Back. I'm from Indonesia, one of Asian countries, and I thank God that I had their self tittled album "Backstreet Boys", it was in red cover. Then when the 2nd album came out, it was breath-taking, after some years of waiting. Miss you!
